GRAB IT NOW
Have you ever felt life is passing you by? That you’re going about on autopilot not really paying attention to anything around you. A passive participant in your life. I have. For brief periods of time. And it sucked. It’s easy to go down this road when you’re overwhelmed with work and home responsibilities, health issues or other challenges.
However, once I decided to be fully present and an active participant in my own life, things started changing very quickly. It was a domino effect and wonderful positive changes trickled into all areas of my life.
A Life Audit is assessing your entire life in a holistic manner that includes your physical, emotional and mental wellbeing as well specific areas of your life such as
Life Audits can feel uncomfortable and I encourage you to do them with compassion and self-love. They reveal so much about your feelings and thoughts and any introspection you have, will help up-level your life.
We love comfort and familiarity even when it’s keeping us stagnant. But once we push past the hard parts, there’s a whole world of new possibilities waiting for us. Taking that first step though is the challenge.
To get the ball rolling, here are a few questions to ask yourself:
All that you’re doing is simply observing your life for how it is. It is important to recognize all your blessings and have gratitude for where you are. Every once in a while it is good to reflect and see how far you’ve come but also how you can further improve the quality of your life.
As often as you think necessary. I find myself doing it twice a year. Right at the beginning of the new year when I assess where I am and where I want to go in all areas of my life and again in the middle of the year. I re-evaluate if my goals are still the same. Mid year check-ins are gold. I find out what’s working and if I’ve made progress or not.
Sometimes my goals have either shifted focus or my priorities have changed and an audit helps me pivot to what I currently need and where I want to go.
This looks different for everyone. The important thing to keep in mind though, is NOT to overcomplicate or let timelines dictate your happiness and wellbeing. An audit is simply a guide to assist you, not cripple you into self doubt.
Now that you’ve reflected and taken stock, here are:
One last note: If you feel you’re not progressing in an area of your life and want to take action, a question to ask yourself is Do I want to focus on this now or is it going to stress or overwhelm me? What is my gut telling me? The answer is vital in taking the next steps. So often you may work on something that you think is required of you without taking into account if it’s something you truly want to further along. Don’t work on it if it’s NOT what you want or are not ready for.
There you have it! If you’re in a rut, these 6 easy steps will get you to kickstart momentum toward living your best life!
